Good Friday

Kyrie gave us quite a scare earlier today, but right now she's doing such a good job of hanging in there. She has been such a fighter through this whole ordeal. We definitely know that she can hear us. Jordan put a small ball in her hand and everyone told her to throw it--she did! Three times!

Everyone is sitting around her in her room. We talk, we cry and we watch her.

And everyone here--the whole extended family--thanks you for all the comments. We have the computer up, and we check often. Jordan printed today's comments and passed them around to visitors and family that are stopping by. Thank you for that. We know how hard it is to find the words to offer some means of comfort. Seeing that you're still watching each day makes everyone here feel loved. It's good to care, and it's makes us feel better when you make us know that you care.

I'm Bronnie, one of Jan's coworkers. I hesitated to post a comment during this especially difficult time, but having read that you're sharing them with each other, I knew I had to do it. I was hired last fall to fill in so that Jan could spend more time with Kyrie on the weekends, as well as when others had other commitments. I thought I was doing a good thing for her by helping her spend more time with family, but now it seems that favor has come back to me one million fold. Seeing the strength and love in your family, especially in the face of tribulation, has truly touched me and brought me to tears on more than one occasion. I have a small army of people praying for Kyrie daily, those "people we don't even know" that you've mentioned numerous times on your blog site. This site has been wonderful in keeping everyone up to date and knowing what your prayer needs are. Thanks for sharing both the good and bad times. We've all learned a huge lesson about love. Kisses to Kyrie!

I wrote last week, being thankful to know Kyrie, even though I have never met her. I told you I also was given a gift from God several years back and at the time didn't understand it, not that I totally do now but I am so thankful that I was given the honor to know what unconditional love is. There is a song by Twilla Paris I would like for you to read the words to, you can type it in your search engine and hear it if you would like.

A visitor from heaven if only for a while
A gift of love to be returned We think of you and smile
A visitor from heaven accompanied by grace, reminding of a better love and of a better place
With aching hearts and empty arms We send you with a name, It hurts so much to let you go, but we're so glad you came
A visitor from heaven If only for a day We thank him for the time he gave and now it's time to say
We trust you to the fathers love and to his tender care held in the everlasting arms, and we're so glad your there
With breaking hearts and empty hands We send you with a name
It hurts so much to let you go, But we're so glad you came, We're so glad you came.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I am sorry for the hurt you have. God understands. We don't but He does. You are truely blessed to have Kyrie.

I was told about little Kyrie two months ago by another person who also does not know your family. It's amazing how word has traveled about your family. Please know this in your difficult time...Kyrie has brought so many people closer together! I have seen people pray that were not close to the Lord, I have seen people cry over your family's tribulations and rejoice at your triumphs and I have seen people go home and treat their children with more love and affection all because of Kyrie. Almost everyone at my job either logs in to this blog or gets a "Kyrie Update" from me or other co-workers. For someone so young, Kyrie has changed so many lifes, including mine. Thanks, Kyrie for all that you have done for so many!!

I've been here since the beginning of this. I'm Pete and Betty Greenbanks granddaughter. Darla and John know them.

Anyway, I've laughed and mostly cried with all of you. I feel like Kyrie, That and Dog are part of our family now.

I'm thinking a miracle is going to happen. I really do. She's able to throw a ball??? A MIRACLE!!!

This weekend --Easter weekend--let there be a miracle.

Please God. Just this once.

Love you all and am thinking of you day and night

A group of us met tonight before our Good Friday services to pray for all of you and to once again ask God to heal Kyrie, we aren't ready to give up on that. And several people stopped me after services to express their love for all of you. They have asked me to pass on to you how much they love you all and how you have touched their lives. Many of them don't feel "internet savvy" enough to check the blog, so I email portions of the blog to them or send prayer updates. They all have fallen in love with sweet Kyrie and your family. I again echo what everyone has posted about the changes Kyrie's made to so many people's lives with her few months here on earth. I find myself feeling so unworthy of everything in my life because I know that I've so many times not taken advantage of opportunities God has put before me. I now have a renewed sense of what's important in life. Sleepy mornings with the kids and Danny all squashed in bed...watching the wonder in my children's eyes as they watch a Good Friday snow...everything. Thank you all for reminding me what life is all about. It's about every second, and I won't let one pass me by again.

I don't know your family personally nor do you know me, but I follow Kyrie's blog each day. I just returned from Good Friday service with my family here in Kansas City. As we spent time meditating and praying through the Stations of the Cross, I thought so much of your family. One realization that God gave me on this Friday, which seems anything but "Good," is that He is so qualified and so capable of seeing you through this time. For just as you now agonize and grieve over your child, God has been there, agonizing and grieving over His own. As you watch your sweet Kyrie suffer, He has watched the gut-wrenching pain and suffering of His dear Jesus on the cross. As your hearts ache and tear apart, He has been there, too. As a parent, He knows all too well, what you are going through.

When the rest of us feel clumsy and dumb-founded about what to say or do to ease your pain, He (and only He) knows what you need and how to sustain your spirits through this dark night.

Your strength is inspiring. Your love is amazing. Your daughter has left a legacy.

I have been reading this site several times daily, since the first of March, when nurse Rebecca told me about Kyrie. I feel so blessed to have met you all a few weeks ago at the hospital. She is a beautiful baby! You have all been in my daily prayers and thoughts. I hope that the love and support of so many will somehow be a comfort to you in this most burdensome time. Thank you for sharing with us thru this site. You are an inspiration. In His love, Tina Boley

What an amazing family. It's wonderful that Kyrie is surrounded by such love in her time of need. Jordan's letter was amazing and deeply touched my heart. As a mommy to an 18 month old little girl, I can't imagine the courage and strength it took to write it and can't even pretend to understand the pain. We're still here, continuing to cry and pray with you.

I Have been keeping track of your little Angels walk with God. My heart goes out to Jordan and Lacie and the whole family. I lost my older sister and I thought that pain/grief was believable, I can not imagine the pain/grief that your family is in. This is an Irish blessing that helped me.

May you see God's light on the path ahead, when the road you walk is dark. May you always hear, even in your hour of sorrow, the gentle singing of the lark. When times are hard may hardness never hurn your heart to stone. May you always remember when teh shadows fall you do not walk alone.

You will feel and see Kyrie in the future she will always be in your hearts. On the day of my sisters funeral there was a red bird in the tree outside my church. To this day almost everywhere any one in my family goes there is a red bird. My mom says it is my sister watching over us. I belive she is right. We moved my brother to KC last year and sure enough there is a red bird outside his window almost everyday. I lived downtown for a year and with all the traffic, bars and crazy drunk people there was a red bird that would sit across from my bedroom window. The red bird shows up in the most strange and random places. So just remember in your heart that this is not the end, this is just the begining of her eternal life with you and God. Keep your eyes open for those little things that happen and know that just might be your little angel tell you she is there.
With lots of Love and Prayer

You have been in my thoughts and prayers every moment of the past few days. This is just heartwrenching for me to read. I am a fellow cancer hater (who isn't?), as my husband has stage 4 melanoma. It has greatly interfered with our hopes and dreams for life. I work everyday to keep melanoma from causing me pain, as it has taken away lot of special moments from our family. I hope you can find peace in the fact that there is no cancer and no suffering in Heaven. You are very courageous, as you stand by Kyrie during this difficult time. What you are having to do is just unimaginable, but I can imagine that you are honored to be holding her and loving her during these precious moments. Remember, God picked YOU from all the rest to be Kyrie's parents. Although it is difficult to understand, He must have known she would need really great parents to help her face this. I have been deeply touched by your battle, and I pray that you find the strength to keep your faith and comfort each other.

Jordan and Lacie....the prayer below has helped me so much in the past years and I have shared it with many because of the numerous prayers that have been answered with St. Anne's help. It dawned on me, early in my Catholic faith, who better to help carry my prayers, than the mother of Mary and the Grandmother of Jesus. I hope the prayer below will provide as much comfort to you as it has for me.

Prayer to St. Anne

Glorious St. Anne, filled with compassion for those who invoke thee, and with love for those who suffer, heavily laden with the weight of my troubles, I cast myself at thy feet and humbly beg of thee to take the present affair which I recommend to thee under thy special protection.

Vouchsafe to recommend it to thy Daughter, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and lay it before the throne of Jesus, so that He may bring it to a happy issue. Cease not to intercede for me until my request is granted. We pray that Jesus will lay his healing hand on Kyrie, and remove the cancer from her little body.
Above all, obtain for us the grace of one day beholding our God face to face, and with thee and Mary and all the saints, praising and blessing Him to all eternity.

Good St. Anne, mother of her Who is our Life, our Sweetness and our Hope, pray to her for us, and obtain our request. (3 times),

I ask all of you to light a candle for Kyrie, Jordan and Lacie....as my mother-in-law once told me....I will light a candle for you. It is not the candle that is magically, but everytime I see the candle, I will be reminded to pray for you.

Today as I went from room to room, and I would see a candle burning, I would smile and ask Jesus to please heal our little Kyrie....We are keeping the faith.

We Love you and your family,

John and Darla Thome

Kyrie's struggle has made me realize just how precious our time truly is with our loved ones. As I was fortunate enough to get to rock my little angel to sleep tonight, all I could think about was Kyrie. Jan and I had our first grandbabies 3 weeks apart and I just wanted Jan to know how much I am thinking of her and praying for her. Jan; just realize what a wonderful daughter you raised in Lacie. She has been the best mommy in the world to Kyrie and believe me, Kyrie knows this. Give Kyrie a kiss from Lauren and me. God Bless You!

She is so blessed to have you by her side!! May this Easter weekend bring hope and may God's sufficiency be shown to you through this painful time.

Remember...Jesus was not alone when he gathered Kyrie in his arms last night. He had Great-Grandpa Roman on one side and Great-Grandma Helen on his other side. What a precious moment when they got to meet their little Great-Granddaughter. Kyrie, I wonder what nickname you're Grandpa Roman will give you.

Jordan and Lacie, we pray for your continued strength, and the love for each other. You have a fantastic support group that I hope you will continue to use in the coming months.

Our love and our prayers go out to you and your entire family.
